Videos bring your content to life and engage your audience more than any format. With Genially you can embed videos so that your audience can view them within the genially, without having to go to another platform or website. In this tutorial, we’ll explain how to embed videos in your genially, either from your device or from platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo.

## **How to embed a video**

There are several ways to embed a video in the canvas of a genially: from video platforms, or from your device:

### From video platforms

1\. **Search** Youtube or Vimeo **for the** **video** you want to embed.

2\. **Copy the URL or embed code** of the video. The link must start with https:// (secure protocol). Later in the tutorial we explain how to find the URL on the most common video platforms.

3\. In the Genially Editor, **paste the URL or code** in the **Insert - video** tab.

4\. When you insert it, a sidebar with configuration options is displayed on the right side of the screen.

5\. All set! You have embedded the video in your genially.

###
From your device

**\*Only available with the Author / Edu 360 / Campus / Enterprise plan**

1\. From the **Insert - video** menu, select the **From device** option. \*The maximum file size is 1GB. Note that these files will be available in all creations and can be used by all team members.

2\. Locate your video on your device and select it.

3\. It may take a few minutes to upload the video, you’ll receive an email when it’s ready!

4\. Once it has been uploaded, add it to the canvas and adjust the playback options.

The accepted video formats are: mp4, AVI, flv, wmv, quicktime, webm, ogg, 3gpp.

## **How do I find the URL or embed code of my video?**

Here we’ll show where to find the video’s URL or embed code on two of the most popular platforms, YouTube and Vimeo.

##
Configuration options for your videos in Genially

You can resize the video or drag it to any part of the canvas, just as you would with any other element. In addition, videos have the following playback options:

* **Autoplay:** This option is disabled by default. If you activate it, the inserted video will start playing automatically when the page where it is located appears on the screen.

* **Loop:** This option is also disabled by default. If you activate it, the video will play on loop until you change pages.

* **Mute:** Disabled by default. This is the option that allows you to choose whether you want the audio of the video to be heard or not. **Currently, browsers do not allow automatic audio playback, so it will not be played until the viewer clicks on the speaker icon to enable audio.**

* **Hide playback bar:** Disabled by default. If you activate it, the video controls such as pause, volume, and full screen, etc. disappear.

* **Start playing from:** You can set exactly at what moment you want the video playback to start when you don't need the whole video to play.

The options to configure your video once you insert it into Genially are only available when the video is from YouTube or Vimeo or uploaded from your device. If the video is from any other platform, such as DailyMotion, it is not possible to configure it after inserting it in your genially. However, some of these platforms allow you to configure certain characteristics of the videos before creating the embed code.
