# How to insert Genially content using LTI?

Connection is important, and the connection between your LMS and Genially is about to become one of those connections you just can’t live without. Did you know that you can now share your geniallys in your LMS using LTI? And even collect scores! Here’s how:

## How does LTI work in Genially?

LTI is **unique to each workspace**, meaning that the LMS is linked to a particular workspace. 

This connection **is only created once** and can be done **by a workspace** **Owner or Administrator**. Once this has been done, any member of the workspace can share content using LTI, as long as they have editing permissions in the LMS.

First of all, to insert content via LTI you must be logged in with the same email address in the LMS and the Genially workspace.

From there, you can browse and navigate between the different Genially spaces and folders. You can also search for creations by name within each folder. Please note that:

*   You can only select one genially from the list that appears, i.e. you have to share the creations one at a time.
*   Private geniallys are also displayed.
*   Draft geniallys are not displayed.
*   Restricted geniallys are not displayed.

  

**Note:** You cannot browse or explore the 'My personal space' area. 

## How do I get scores from the LMS? 

To share a genially in your LMS, you need to create an activity. This means that you can apply the same settings as to any activity in the LMS, including scores.  

In theory, the score is based on the number of pages in the genially that are viewed by the student, but you can configure other settings from your LMS, such as the number of attempts and the passing score. 

**Note:** If you don’t save tracking data in Genially, each time the student enters Genially they will start from the beginning, and the previous score will be overwritten.

## How to insert content using LTI

Speed and security are two of the important benefits that the LTI connection offers, as well as some other equally compelling advantages: 

*   Students can access the resources published by the teacher without leaving the LMS.
    
*   You can share resources securely.
    
*   It helps you keep your materials up to date.
    
*   Your students’ activity can be tracked. 
    

To insert a Genially creation into your LMS using LTI, you must first create an activity in the course where you want to insert it and then create the connection.

Here’s what you’ll need to do, step by step:

1.  Log in to your LMS.
    
2.  Select the course you want to insert content in.
    
3.  Create an activity. 
    
4.  When the activity setup screen appears, click on the **Course** menu. 
    
5.  Now click on **Add an activity** **or resource**. This option will allow you to select and insert content from an external tool. 
    

**Note:** The menu of each LMS is different, so the terms may vary slightly.

6.  The LMS will display several options. To create the LTI connection, select **External Tool**. Once this is done, a menu will appear. 
    

7.  Select **Adding an external tool** and open the **General** section. 
    
8.  Now click on **Preconfigured tool** and a **drop-down menu** **will appear**. You’ll need to select the workspace where the resources you want to insert are located. 
    
9.  Click on **Select content** and the different spaces and folders you have access to will appear. 
    
10.  Click on the **creation you want to insert**.
    
11.  A screen will appear asking **whether or not the content can be evaluated. You decide!** If you won’t be evaluating/scoring the content, just click the **Add** button and you're done!
