A navigation menu is a key element to enhance the exploration of your creations on Genially. It allows people viewing your content to easily scroll between sections or pages, delivering a more intuitive and structured experience. 

In this tutorial, we'll show you the features of the navigation menu and how to add this widget to your creations.   
  

## Features of the navigation menu

*   It can be **horizontal** (with sections in a row) or **hamburger** (with sections in a drop-down vertical column). 
*   It applies to all pages of the creation without you having to copy it manually. If you prefer, you can add it only to selected pages.
*   You can add up to 12 sections with titles of up to 25 characters.
*   Each section links to a page of the creation thanks to the Go to page interaction.  
      
    

## How to add a navigation menu to your canvas

1.  In the left-hand menu, click **Components**. There, you'll find **Time and Navigation**.
2.  Choose the format you want: horizontal or hamburger. 
3.  Right from the canvas, you can customize the menu colors. To change a color, select the background, text, and section area (visible when you hover over it or click).
4.  In the right side menu, you can configure the sections: 
    *   add new sections (maximum 12)
    *   write the title of each one (maximum 25 characters)
    *   assign a landing page
    *   customize a short description about where the section is going so that screen readers can interpret it
5.  In the bottom right corner, use the eye icon for a preview and check how navigation works from page to page.

Place the menu however you want. By default, it appears in the upper left corner of your creation. Once you have a menu on your canvas, you can modify it again by using the 'Edit widget' pencil icon or by double clicking on it.  
  

## Tips to get the most out of the menu

*   If your creation has lots of pages, group them into clear sections for easy navigation.
*   Use short, descriptive titles for each section.
*   If you use the [microsite navigation](https://help.genially.com/es/navegacion-entre-paginas-modo-microsite-en-genially-rk68oDr3o) mode, the menu will be the way to scroll between pages. Like on a website.
