When you add interactivity to your geniallys, they become authentic communication experiences that engage your audience and invite them to keep clicking. With Genially you can apply different types of ****[interactivity](https://help.genial.ly/setting-up-interactivity-in-genially-BJHrqwSho)****.

Link interactivity allows you to link to any website from your genially. You can take your audience to your social media, blog, any website or page, or even another genially.

In this tutorial we’ll look at:

*   What kinds of links can you use?
*   How to add links

  

## ******What types of links can you use?******

These are the links you can insert in a genially:

*   ****Links starting with the secure protocol https.**** Example: [https://genially/](http://app.genially.com/?from=login-true)
    *   For security reasons, URLs you want to add to your Genially creations should be safe, meaning they should start with https.
    *   If you try to add a URL that is not safe, you’ll see an error message in the top right of the Editor and it won’t be possible to apply the interactivity.
*   ****Emails:**** You can link an email so that your audience can send you an email message with just one click. This link only works if the user has a default mail manager set up on their device.
*   ****Phones:**** You can link a landline or cell phone so that your audience can easily call you. This link only works if the user has a call manager set by default on their device.

  

## ******How to add links******

You can add links to any element in your genially: a resource, an image, a text box, etc. We recommend using the ****interactive elements**** because they’re more easily recognized.

Do you know which element you want to add the link to? Then follow these steps:

  

*   Select the element and click on the **interactivity** icon that appears above it.
    
*   In the right‑hand panel, under the **Navigation section**, click **Open link** and then **Add**.
    
*   A **popup window** will open where you can configure the link:
    
    *   Enter the **URL** of the website, email, or phone number.
        
    *   **
        
        The address must begin with https://. If you enter one with http://, you’ll receive an error and won't be able to save.

*   Decide whether the link should open in the **same tab** or in a **new tab**:
    
    *   By default, links open in a new tab.
        
    *   If you enable “Open in the same tab,” your audience will leave the Genially to access the linked site. We recommend enabling this only when it makes sense, e.g. on the last page of your creation.
        
*   **
    
    Enable the Accessibility option if you want to add a description for the link. This description will be read by screen readers and is essential for accessibility.

    Click Save to apply your changes.
