Genially allows you to create experiences to explore at every step. Tooltips are very useful to provide extra information without cluttering the screen. Those who interact with the contents discover information as they go along. 

  

## **Characteristics of the tooltips**

*   The tooltip is displayed **when hovering the mouse over the triggering element**, it is not necessary to click on the element. 
    
*   They work very well for short content: you can show concise text or simple images. 
    
*   The size or layout of the tooltip is established according to the extent of its contents. It is not customizable. 
    

  

**How to add a tooltip to your creation**

1.  Add any element to your canvas to display a tooltip. A button, an image, a text block, a group of elements or even an invisible area.
    
2.  Click on Add interactivity and, in the right side menu, choose the View tooltip option. 
    
3.  Add the content of the tooltip: a text, an image, a video... explore different possibilities, [you can follow this tutorial](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-customize-the-content-of-interactive-tooltips-in-genially-Sycq9vBhj). 
    
4.  Choose the color of the tooltip according to the design of your creation. When you have chosen it, exit the preview and click on Save.

**You can preview how your tooltip is displayed by clicking on the eye icon in the top bar.**

## **Combines interactions**

What if you show a tooltip next to a sound? What if a confetti effect is also triggered? Genially allows you to [combine different interactions](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-combine-several-interactions-in-genially-H1uc9Dr2j) to create great interactive experiences. Once you have added a tooltip, you can add other interactions such as audio or effects that are triggered by clicking on the element.
