[Interactivity in Genially](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-set-up-interactivity-in-genially-BJHrqwSho) can be activated with a **hover** or **click** **trigger**, allowing you to create user-friendly experiences that engage, surprise, and guide your audience through the material.

### Hover

The action is triggered when the user moves their mouse or cursor over the interactive element.

### Click

The action is triggered when the user clicks or taps on the interactive element.

## How to select the trigger

### Step 1: Add interactivity

1. On the canvas, select the element you want to make interactive. Or add an invisible interactive area.
2. Click Add Interactivity.
3. Choose an interaction.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I trigger different actions, on the same element, with the same trigger?

Yes! Genially lets you apply multiple actions to a single element, using different combinations of triggers.

For example, you can apply the following options to the same element:

* Launch effects **and** play audio, both on **hover**.
* Launch effects on **click**, and play audio on **hover**.
* Launch effects on **hover**, and play audio on **click**.

You’re free to explore, experiment, and get creative! If a combination of actions and triggers isn’t possible, you won’t be able to select it.

### Can I trigger an interaction with 2 types of trigger?

No. Each interaction has one associated trigger.

### What happens if I don’t select a trigger?

Don’t worry, the interaction will still be activated! By default, all interactions — except tooltips — will be activated by a click trigger, unless you change the trigger to hover.

### Why can’t I activate a window to open on hover?

Hover interactions can be a barrier to accessibility, as the user has less control over the content.

To deliver the most user-friendly and accessible experience, actions that change location or context (window, go-to-page, link, full-screen) are not compatible with hover triggers.

To reveal auxiliary information on hover, we recommend using a [tooltip](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-set-up-tooltip-interactivity-in-genially-HJcYcPBhj) or hover [reveal](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-set-up-reveal-interactivity-in-genially-B1LqcwHhi).
