Cards are short, dynamic pieces of content that let you focus on a topic or concept in a vertical-format design, following the trend of bite-sized learning.

**Genially interactive cards have configurable behavior:** you can turn flipping on or off, shuffle the order of the cards, and choose how your audience moves through the deck. On mobile, the action happens by swiping.

They are useful for focusing on a topic or concept; encouraging active learning and self-assessment; helping your audience retain key information and reinforce learning, including long-term memory; and creating microcontent adapted to vertical or mobile formats.

## **Why use cards**

You can create individual cards or card sequences using pre-designed templates, depending on your goals. Explore all their uses:

## How to add a card to your creation

1. In the left-hand menu, click **Components**. There, you'll find the **Compositions** section.
2. **Choose the card** that fits your content goal: you can select between vertical and horizontal cards, and either a single card or a card sequence.
3. To **edit the card**, double-click it or click the pencil icon. Replace the preset elements: text, colors, or images and customize them to your liking.
4. If your card(s) **flip**, edit both sides by clicking the arrow in the bottom-right corner.
5. If you're using a card deck, **navigate** with the top control to choose which card to edit.
6. **Add a new card** by clicking Add card. It will be added based on your current position. You can add up to 12 cards.
7. Change the order of the cards in Designer mode. Open the top-left menu in the editor and click Show - Designer mode, or press CTRL/CMD + M. Change the card order in the **Layers** tab.
8. When your card or card group is ready, click **Exit card** at the top of the canvas, or double-click outside the card area.

## **Deck settings**

Once your deck of cards is on the canvas, you can configure how it behaves for your audience.
Double-click the deck or click the pencil icon to enter it, then click the three dots in the corner. You'll find the following options:

* **Show**: choose how you want the deck to be displayed:

    * **With flip**: turns the flip effect on or off for all cards in the deck. Turn it off if you want your audience to move through the cards without revealing a second side.

    * **Random order**: automatically shuffles the cards in each session so every experience is unique. Ideal for reviewing vocabulary or creating tests.

    * **Allow restart**: lets your audience go back to the beginning of the sequence when they reach the end.

* **Sequence**: choose how you want your audience to move through the deck:

    * **Loop**: the sequence is infinite. When the audience reaches the last card, the next one is the first one, with no end.

    * **Stack**: the classic cumulative mode. Your audience moves card by card until they complete the deck.

    * **Decision**: your audience makes decisions by swiping each card to the right or left, depending on their answer or preference.

### Finally, keep in mind…

* Cards are interactive because they can flip when clicked. But they can also contain other interactive elements, such as buttons to show windows or tooltips, audio, links, effects, questions, and more.
* You can increase or decrease the size of the card to fit your needs.
* Cards have a predefined micro-animation that gives them a slight movement when you hover over them.

Try the different sequence modes and display options to find the combination that works best for your content. Your cards have never been this flexible!
