## What is Genially for Google Meet?

Genially for Google Meet is a free add-on (meeting tool) that allows you to host interactive presentations, polls, games, and quizzes [live](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-present-live-on-genially-Hy6i99yuke) in your Google Meet video calls.

Everything is integrated so you can host a Genially activity without interrupting the flow of your meeting. There’s no need to share your screen or post links in the chat. Participants don’t need to enter any codes, navigate away from the meeting, or log in to Genially!

While the host controls the pace of the slides and questions, participants can click and explore interactive elements on their own screen.

## **How to host a live Genially activity in Google Meet**

1. Enter a Google Meet video call and go to the **Meeting Tools** menu, in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Select the **Add-ons** tab.

2. If it’s your first time using Genially for Google Meet, install the add-on. Click **Browse the Marketplace** and search for Genially, then follow the instructions. You'll need to sign in to Google so that Google Meet can connect to your Genially account.

3. When it’s installed, open the Genially add-on in Google Meet. You can now browse your Genially dashboard and select the creation you want to present.

**Please note:** To present live, the creation must be published (not a draft) and accessible to “Anyone with the link“. If your creation has restricted access, it will not appear in the sidebar and you cannot present it live. Learn more about [sharing and publishing](https://help.genially.com/en_us/share-genially-creations-via-link-r1EJ2bfYJg).

4. When you select a creation from the sidebar, it will load in Google Meet. All meeting participants will automatically receive an invitation to join the activity.

**Heads up:** Although a QR and 6-digit access code appear on the screen, there’s no need to share them in the chat, or share your screen. Meeting participants are automatically invited to join the activity.

5. You can see who’s joined the activity in the participants list.

**Important:** Do not click on **Share this screen**, even if prompted by a notification. Meeting participants are automatically invited to join the activity, and they can interact with the slides on their own screen.

6. When you’re ready to present and kick off the activity, click **Start**.

7. You’re now hosting live! Participants will follow along in sync as you change slides, navigate to other pages, and reveal the answers to questions.

## **Who can use Genially for Google Meet?**

Google users can install the Genially for Google Meet add-on. Please note that Google Workspace currently has certain limitations:

**Google for Education users**

* Users under 18 are not currently permitted to [install add-ons in Google Meet](https://support.google.com/meet/answer/13961388?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop#zippy=%2Cuse-add-ons-with-google-workspace-for-education).

**Mobile devices**

* Some Google Meet add-ons, including Genially, are currently only available on desktop devices.

If you’re unable to install Genially for Google Meet, it may be because your Google Workspace Admin has blocked access to third-party add-ons. For more information, visit [Google Support](https://support.google.com/meet/answer/13961388?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid).

## **Frequently asked questions**

**How do I display the leaderboard?**

The Live Results leaderboard turns any quiz into a fun competition, showing the current score and who’s in the lead. Configure [Live Results](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-get-live-results-in-genially-BJU2kNtbA) in the Interactive Questions menu.

When you’re [presenting live](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-present-live-on-genially-Hy6i99yuke), Live Results automatically generates an animated podium. Fun effects and a drumroll countdown reveal which participant has won the contest and claimed the top spot.

**Can I view participation data?**
Not right now. Post-session CSV reports are not currently available for live sessions hosted in Google Meet.

**Why can’t I find the creation I want to present?**

To present a creation live, make sure it is published and not still in drafts. It must also be accessible to “Anyone with the link”. Creations with restricted access (limited to named individuals) cannot be presented live. Learn more about [sharing and access settings](https://help.genially.com/en_us/share-genially-creations-via-link-r1EJ2bfYJg).

**Can I remove participants?**

Yes! If someone is disrupting the activity you can discreetly remove them, even once the session is underway.

**Do participants need to log in to Genially?**

Nope. Meeting participants do not need a Genially account to take part in a live activity. They can view and interact with the material but they cannot edit the content, resolve questions, or navigate to other pages. The host maintains control of the session at all times. For more information, see [How to present live in Genially](https://help.genially.com/en_us/how-to-present-live-on-genially-Hy6i99yuke).

**Why can’t I install the add-on?**

Google Workspace places some restrictions on the installation of third-party add-ons. Google Workspace for Education users under 18 are not currently able to install Google Meet add-ons. At this time, Genially for Google Meet is not available for mobile devices. Visit [Google Support](https://support.google.com/meet/answer/13961388?sjid=1210884250126096191-EU) for more information.
